Abstract
Cerebral infarction is a common disease in elderly patients. The characteristic symptoms may appear when stroke occurs, but it may not be early detected if there is little symptom. Prophylactic anticoagulant therapy for suspected cerebral infarcted patient is not contraindicated on interventional neural block but should be careful. The physician, who performs interventional procedure, should carefully evaluate the risk factors of stroke before the procedure and should actively monitor the patient after the procedure. Here, we report on the case of an 89-year-old cerebral infarcted male that newly developed cerebral infarction after the caudal epidural block by chance to treat the lower leg paresthesia. It seems to may have been the cause of stroke that the patient stopped taking an anticoagulant for three weeks unfortunately.
